Fumbles Follies Foibles Rams Win

October 13, 2008 by nick

It took about eight months of waiting but the St. Louis Rams finally got their first win. After losing their last four games of last season and the first four of this one, the Rams finally put a tally in the win column after defeating the Washington Redskins 19-17. In a game that claims a strong spot among the rest of the strange matches and upsets this week, the Rams almost imploded on several occasions. They fumbled on their own 4-yard line on their second play from scrimmage; they lost a 9-point lead in the fourth quarter; then, when they were set up for an easy chip shot, game-winning field goal, they committed a 15-yard penalty and placed extra pressure on the kicker. Then again, there were some definite positives for the Rams. Under the tutelage of new head coach Jim Haslett, the Rams' defense looked strong, forcing Washington's first three turnovers of the season. Bulger came to life again if only briefly. And most importantly, the Rams won. After Marc Bulger hit a 43-yard pass completion and the following 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Richie Incognito, Josh Brown set his sights and knocked in the game winner from 49-yards out. Overall, the Rams know they were lucky to come out with the "W" after being outgained in yards 368-200, but they will relish it nonetheless. Under Haslett, perhaps they have a chance to salvage the season. To catch your Rams in action, or any other team, check out the NFL ticket information on our website.
