January 14, 2015 by Alyssa

Bonnaroo 2015

With a little help from its fans, Bonnaroo took over social media on the night of Jan. 13 to reveal its 2015 lineup. Fans called a toll-free hotline to discover the name of one artist to share on Twitter, and when all was said and done, more than 95 performers were confirmed for the upcoming four-day event, which will take place in Manchester, Tenn., from June 11-14.

Billy Joel to Make First Headlining Bonnaroo Appearance
Following in the footsteps of classic rock legends Paul McCartney and Elton John, Billy Joel will take a break from his ongoing Madison Square Garden residency to headline Bonnaroo 2015. Joel has never performed at the fest before, but he’s sure to bring the house down with his rousing catalog of sing-along classics like “Piano Man,” “Uptown Girl,” and “Only the Good Die Young.”

Other veteran acts featured on the Bonnaroo lineup include former Led Zeppelin lead vocalist Robert Plant, who’ll perform with his latest backing group, the Sensational Space Shifters. Other vets scheduled to take the stage over the weekend include R&B icons Earth Wind and Fire, legendary metal group Slayer, and Tears for Fears, which is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its multi-Platinum Songs from the Big Chair this year.

Mumford and Sons to Return After Lengthy Hiatus
In exciting news for Mumford and Sons fans, the English folk rock outfit will be making a big return in 2015 as one of the Bonnaroo headliners. It’s the first time the band has announced a public performance in almost a year and a half since going on hiatus in Sept. 2013. A new Mumford and Sons album also is reportedly in the works for 2015.

Fellow folk and country performers like Brandi Carlile, Ed Helms’ The Bluegrass Situation, the Punch Brothers, and Trampled by Turtles will also appear at the June festival.

Kendrick Lamar, Hozier, and Bassnectar Round Out Eclectic Bonnaroo Lineup
Kendrick Lamar leads a strong showing of hip-hop acts on the Bonnaroo lineup this year, including Childish Gambino, Flying Lotus, Atmosphere, and Run the Jewels. Rock acts—like My Morning Jacket, Alabama Shakes, Hozier, Spoon, and Belle and Sebastian—are also featured heavily on the roster. A handful of EDM acts previously announced on the Ultra Music Festival lineup will also be at Bonnaroo 2015, including Bassnectar and Gramatik, and Canadian DJ Deadmau5 will return to Bonnaroo for the first time since 2010.

The Bonnaroo 2015 lineup will announce more performers, including more than 20 comedians, in the coming weeks, but you can review the current collection of musicians below.
