Catch Up on New Music from These Touring Artists in Fall 2015

August 26, 2015 by Alyssa

Fall Concert Tours

Yesterday Vulture released a list of 49 exciting new albums coming out (or at least expected to be released) this fall. Their list got us thinking about all the new music that we’ll get to hear live in concert later in the year as supporting tours for these new albums make their way around the country.

From fresh faces like The Weeknd to veterans like Janet Jackson, there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming months. Here are 12 of the most exciting acts with new music on the way in the second half of 2015.

THE CONFIRMED

The Weeknd

The Album: “Beauty Behind the Madness”

Release Date: Aug. 28

Due out on Friday, The Weeknd’s sophomore album has already spawned huge hits like the chart-topping “Can’t Feel My Face.” The new tracks are guaranteed to be staples on his North American tour that kicks off in November.

Prince

The Album: HitNRun

Release Date: Sept. 7

As far as performers go, no one can hold a candle to Prince. The R&B icon has been back on the live circuit this summer in support of his forthcoming “HitNRun” album, and the shows have been nothing short of incredible. (At one concert, he played not one, not two, but three encores.) Don’t expect a full-fledged tour announcement, though: Prince is likely to stick with a surprise schedule for the fall.

Avicii

The Album: “Stories”

Release Date: Sept. 25

Avicii’s highly anticipated sophomore album is shaping up to live up to its hype, thanks to guest spots from Jon Bon Jovi, Billie Joe Armstrong, Milky Chance, and Matisyahu, among others. So far, the Swedish DJ hasn’t announced a big tour to support the release, but you can get a dose of his brilliance during one of his upcoming shows at Encore Beach Club, Las Vegas’ prime pool party venue.

Chvrches

The Album: “Every Open Eye”

Release date: Sept. 25

This Scottish synthpop trio has fast been making its mark in the world of indie rock. After Chvrches’ hit 2013 debut, the band’s forthcoming album is guaranteed to be one of the hottest music releases of the fall. The group already wowed crowds this summer at Ottawa Bluesfest and Chicago’s Pitchfork Festival, and they’ll be back to impress more intimate audiences with a North American tour starting in late September.

Disclosure

The Album: “Caracal”

Release Date:  Sept. 25

Coincidentally, another U.K. electronic outfit, Disclosure, will be dropping another highly anticipated sophomore album on Sept. 25. This duo already hit mainstream success back in 2014 with the Sam Smith-powered “Latch.” The new record will feature more high-profile collaborations, including the return of Smith, as well as The Weeknd, Lorde, and Miguel. A short but sweet North American tour will bring the new music to stages through much of October.

Trey Anastasio Band

The Album: “Paper Wheels”

Release Date: Oct. 16

The summer Phish tour hasn’t ended yet, but frontman Trey Anastasio has already announced plans for a new solo album and fall tour to come in October. It’s the first time in three years the Trey Anastasio Band has put out any new music. To celebrate, the outfit will play more than a dozen shows this fall, including a special Halloween concert in Las Vegas.

5 Seconds of Summer

The Album: “Sounds Good Feels Good”

Release Date: Oct. 23

For a while it felt like no one would fill the One Direction-sized hole in our hearts, but 5SOS is doing a fine job of making us forget the void. This Australian quartet (and former 1D tourmate) will release its sophomore album this fall, just after wrapping up summer tour dates in the U.S. Expect to see the band stateside again in December for California’s Triple Ho Show. One Direction will co-headline the holiday concert in what might be one of its last live shows ever.

THE RUMORED

Justin Bieber

The Album: TBA

We’re pretty positive Justin Bieber has a new album coming out on Nov. 13, but so far the Toronto native has kept the album details on lock. He’s expected to release the album’s first single, reportedly titled “What Do You Mean,” on Friday, Aug. 28.

Coldplay

The Album: “A Head Full of Dreams”

Coldplay didn’t really tour in support of its most recent album, “Ghost Stories,” but the group will hopefully change things up for its forthcoming record, “A Head Full of Dreams.” Though the album title is confirmed, a release date hasn’t been announced for what might be the group’s last effort. We’re hoping Coldplay will preview its new music during headlining sets at iHeartRadio Music Festival and Global Citizen Festival in September.

Drake

The Album: “Views from the Six”

Drake has been teasing his fourth studio album for years now, but nothing has materialized yet. He did drop a new mixtape, “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late,” back in February, but “Views from the Six” is still unreleased. The new music might be out in time for his fall headlining appearances at Austin City Limits Festival the first two weekends of October.

Janet Jackson

The Album: “Unbreakable”

Earlier this year, Janet Jackson announced a big comeback tour in support of her new album, “Unbreakable,” but we’re still not sure if the record will be out in 2015. So far she’s given us two singles from the album to tide us over until her tour starts in late August.

Kanye West

The Album: “Swish” (formerly rumored to be “So Help Me God”)

Two new Kanye West singles have dropped in the last year, but the rap icon hasn’t officially announced the release of his follow-up to the critically acclaimed “Yeezus.” It seems like the album must be close to completion, as West has played his new album “Swish” to a number of crowds. We’re optimistic that Yeezy will surprise release the album before his festival slots at iHeartRadio and Summer Ends in September.
