Kacey Musgraves Tour
Since her major label debut dropped last spring, Kacey Musgraves has skyrocketed to fame. She’s topped Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, earned numerous awards, performed on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, toured with major stars like Willie Nelson and Katy Perry, and now, in 2014, is in the middle of her first headlining tour.
Although Musgraves’ success at first seems like it appeared out of nowhere, the East Texas native has been writing songs since she was nine years old. She moved to Nashville full-time in 2008, and soon earned recognition for her songwriting for other established artists, among them Martina McBride, Gretchen Wilson, and Miranda Lambert, for whom Musgraves co-wrote “Mama’s Broken Heart.” Lambert’s Platinum-certified track was a particularly big radio hit--it peaked at No. 2 on both of Billboard’s country songs charts.
In March 2013, Musgraves finally released her own major label debut, Same Trailer, Different Park, and the album has earned her acclaim from countless critics, including those at mainstream publications like Rolling Stone and NPR. In January, Musgraves also earned two GRAMMY Awards from her first four nominations. Along with nods for Best New Artist and Best Country Song (for “Mama’s Broken Heart”), Musgraves won in the categories of Best Country Album and Best Country Song for her own debut single, “Merry Go ‘Round.”
Since 2012, all four of Musgraves’ official singles--including “Merry Go ‘Round”--have reached the top 40 of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. 2013’s “Follow Your Arrow” has been another big hit for the acclaimed songwriter, as it reached No. 10 on the same chart and peaked at 60 on the mainstream Hot 100.
Musgraves has already announced she’s working on a follow-up to Same Trailer, Different Park. Although the release date is currently undetermined, Musgraves has been performing “The Trailer Song,” the first cut from the forthcoming project, around the country since the spring.
While we wait for the new Kacey Musgraves album to drop, you can catch the young artist traveling around the country in fall 2014 with her Same Tour Different Trailer venture. The trek began in late September and will extend through at least the end of October, including a handful of dates in her native Texas.
