Stages Album to Feature Groban’s Broadway Favorites
Due out on April 28, the new Josh Groban album, “Stages,” features a collection of 13 hand-selected songs from a number of Groban’s favorite Broadway shows. Among the track listing are favorites like The Wizard of Oz’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” Carousel’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” and Les Miserables’ “Bring Him Home.” The record will even feature a handful of duets, including one with Tony winner Audra McDonald. The selection of Broadway as the theme of Groban’s new album shouldn’t come as a surprise to diehard fans. Before he signed his first record deal, Groban was studying musical theater at Carnegie Mellon University.
These Broadway tunes are sure to feature heavily into Groban’s setlists for his fall tour, which will kick off Sept. 12 from the Cobb Performing Arts Center in Atlanta. Many of the venues selected for the venture will provide a more intimate concert experience for fans, with concerts scheduled for New York’s Beacon Theatre (Sept. 29), Detroit’s Fox Theatre (Oct. 9), and Houston’s Sarofim Hall (Oct. 26), among many others. Groban is also expected to play one hometown show at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. (Oct. 29), ahead of his final concert of the year on Nov. 3 in San Francisco.
