Festival Announcement
After months of anticipation and strategically placed clues leaked through social media, the Country Music Association revealed the nightly acts comprising the CMA Music Festival 2014 lineup via the following video posted to Facebook on March 19.
As evidenced by the announcement clip, the CMA Music Festival 2014 will shine a spotlight on many of the artists that topped the Billboard country charts last year when it takes over LP Field in Nashville, Tenn., from June 5-8. Visit the Vivid Seats marketplace for your pick of CMA Music Festival four-day passes available now.
All in all, hundreds of musicians will perform at many different festival stages over the course of the weekend, but the main LP Field lineup will be helmed by many of the genre’s most beloved stars. The festival’s day-by-day schedule, listed below, is jam-packed with talent, ranging from young up-and-comers like Hunter Hayes to veteran performers like Tim McGraw. In the first day alone, McGraw will perform on a bill that includes Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, and Rascal Flatts—acts that have collectively logged more than 50 chart-topping country singles over the course of their careers. Also appearing at LP Field over the four-day weekend will be Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Zac Brown Band, and many more.
The CMA Music Festival is one of the longest running festivals in country music history, having originally been founded in 1972 as the CMA Fan Fair. In its first year, the event was held in Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium with just about 5,000 fans on site to see the likes of Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Roy Acuff, and Marty Robbins in person. Over the past four decades, the event has grown exponentially—the 2013 edition drew the biggest crowd in CMA Music Festival history with more than 80,000 attendees.
In 2001, the CMA Fest moved to its current location in downtown Nashville, where the events are spread out across several venues, including LP Field (the main concert venue), Music City Center, Schermerhorn Symphony Center, and Riverfront Park. The last three venues will host the Fan Fair, Fan Alley, and The Buckle, fan-based events that offer interactive activities like live acoustic sets, autograph signings, and more. In one of the more unique highlights of last year’s Fan Fair, attendees were even able to watch a ping-pong showdown between the members of Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town.
