A Look at the Many Legs of Ed Sheerans Divide Tour

The tattooed, guitar-wielding ginger kid who took the world by storm a little over five years ago has been on tour since March 2017. Yes, were talking about Ed Sheeran. The Divide () Tour is coming to a close, but there are still several North American tour dates left and you might be fortunate enough to have one of those shows in your city. With that said, its worth taking a look at some of the tour highlights in case you missed them.

First Announcement & Tour Inklings

Ed announced the first leg of the tour - the European leg - on January 26th, 2017. Additional tour dates were added along with opening acts in February. Then came the Latin American tour dates.By March 8th, 2017 Sheeran announced the North American leg, along with guest acts James Blunt and Joshua Radin (for select venues). Two months later in May, he announced the Oceanian leg of the tour (Australia and New Zealand), which rapidly expanded from seven to eighteen shows due to the high demand.In June 2017, Sheeran announced the Asian leg of the tour, which had to be postponed from October to November due to bone fractures in his arms from a bike accident. Many of the Asian tour dates resumed in the spring of 2018 after a short hiatus.Later in June, he announced the European Stadium tour. In September 2017, Sheeran released the dates of the North American leg of the tour. Additional North American tour dates were added in February 2018. In June 2018, he announced an African leg (in South Africa) scheduled for March 2019.

Considering Ed Sheerans popularity, talent and the sheer number of his chart-topping hits, it should come as no surprise that Tour has been a major success. After 147 shows played worldwide, the tour has earned a whopping $283.3 million with a number of shows still to go.

He is bringing his talents to a city near you and will have you belting out your favourite hits along with him.Hes very nimble on stage (as he is in recordings), able to hit high falsetto notes with ease and switch between mournful or uplifting melodies to more rap-like rhythms effortlessly. And he does it all while strumming away on his guitar, charming the audience. With all that said, if youre a Sheeran fan, you wont be disappointed.

Yes, the tour is coming to an end, but theres still much excitement left for those who have yet to see him perform live. Youll get a mix of both his new hits and classic gems, not to mention his great stage presence. To sum it up, youll have a night full of memorable moments.
