Writing the “The Notebook” adaption for Broadway will be playwright and producer Bekah Brunstetter. From playwriting to producing some of the hottest TV shows such NBC’s “This is Us,” and Starz’s “American Gods,” Brunstetter is tasked with bringing one of America’s most heartwarming love stories to the Broadway stage.
Accompanying Brunsetter on this journey will be American singer Ingrid Michaelson. Best known for her hits “The Way I Am” and “Girls Chase Boys,” Michaelson will be handling the music and lyrics for this Broadway adaption.
Sparks published “The Notebook” in 1996, set in North Carolina and inspired by the true story of his wife’s parents, whose love overcame Alzheimer’s disease.
In 2004, Nick Cassavetes directed the film version of the book, starring Rachel McAdams as Allie, Ryan Gosling as Noah. It became a tear-jerking classic and developed a cult following.
