The Weeknd Tour
The Weeknd has announced North American tour dates for the fall of 2015. On Aug. 20, the Canadian R&B star finally shared his 20-show schedule for his first-ever headlining arena excursion, which has been dubbed The Madness Tour in honor of his forthcoming sophomore album.
According to the announcement, The Madness fall tour will launch on Nov. 3 from The Weeknd’s native Toronto, where he’s scheduled to headline Air Canada Centre. The remaining 19 shows will take place through the middle of December with stops in most major cities. See the full list of tour dates at the bottom of the page.
Some music sites, including Consequence of Sound, have speculated that one of the opening acts for The Weeknd’s upcoming trek will be Banks, the Los Angeles-based vocalist who joined him on his 2013 tour. Rumors have also been circulating that Houston rapper Travis Scott, a protégé of Kanye West and T.I., will be opening concerts on the tour. Neither act has been officially added to the roster at the time of the official announcement.
The Weeknd’s forthcoming sophomore album, “Beauty Behind the Madness,” is one of the most highly anticipated new music releases of the year. Scheduled for an Aug. 28 release, the album includes 14 tracks. Among them are his hits “Earned It” and “Can’t Feel My Face.” The album also features collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Lana Del Rey.
Before kicking off his Beauty Behind the Madness tour, The Weeknd will appear at a few festivals to wrap up the summer season. He’s on the bill for New York’s Hot 100 Festival, Seattle’s Bumbershoot, Philadelphia’s Made in America Festival, and Texas’ Austin City Limits through early October.
