2016 MLB All-Star Game
For the first time since 1992, the city of San Diego will have the honor of hosting the annual Midsummer Classic. The 2016 MLB All-Star Game is set for July 12 at PETCO Park, home to the Padres since 2004, making it the first time the weekend-long event will be staged at the picturesque venue.
Return to the West
The 2016 edition also marks a return to the west for the first time since 2011, when the Arizona Diamondbacks hosted. Since then, the All-Star Game has been hosted by the Kansas City Royals, New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, and Cincinnati Reds.
Future host sites include Marlins Park in 2017 and Nationals Park in 2018. The Tampa Bay Rays are the only MLB team yet to host the Midsummer Classic.

NL Starters: Buster Posey (C), Anthony Rizzo (1B), Ben Zobrist (2B), Kris Bryant (3B), Addison Russell (SS), Yoenis Cespedes (OF), Dexter Fowler (OF), Bryce Harper (OF)

Since the 2003 season, a victory in the MLB All-Star Game has meant home-field advantage for the winning league in the World Series. In that time, the AL has gone on to win 10 of the last 13 All-Star Games, though has secured just six World Series titles.
Getting to PETCO Park
Parking is typically limited around the ballpark, making public transportation the easier and more convenient method for traveling to PETCO Park. Options include the Trolley, COASTER train, MTS buses, and ferry. Be prepared for heavy congestion and any other measures that may be in place for this special event.
