Newport Folk Festival Ticket Information
Nearly every significant modern American folk musician has been featured at the annual Newport Folk Festival since it was first held in 1959. In past years, icons like Joan Baez, Levon Helm, and Pete Seeger have all contributed memorable live performances to the nation’s music history from the stages in Newport, R.I., and the East Coast festival also was the site of Bob Dylan’s infamous electric set in 1965. Decades after its inaugural event, this long-running festival has remained a haven for some of the most innovative Americana musicians active today.

Newport Folk Festival 2015 Lineup Topped by Roger Waters
Over the weekend of July 24-26, the Newport Folk Festival will be bringing a varied lineup of talented artists to stage in Rhode Island for the summer. The East Coast festival has been slowly rolling out its lineup over the first half of the year, and several big names will be featured on this year’s bill. On Friday, July 24, the event will be helmed by Pink Floyd great Roger Waters, who’s expected to perform a special folk-centric set. Other performers tabbed for Friday include the Tallest Man on Earth, Iron and Wine, Watkins Family Hour, and The Lone Bellow. The next day, Portland-based indie folk group The Decemberists will headline in support of 2015’s “What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World,” the group’s first album in four years. Sufjan Stevens will also perform on Saturday behind “Carrie and Lowell,” which was his first full-length album since 2010. Brandi Carlile, José González, Jason Isbell, and more will also appear on Saturday.
As of May 26, the final day of Newport Folk Festival will be topped by Swedish duo First Aid Kit. Other artists booked to perform on Sunday will include Laura Marling, Lord Huron, and Shakey Graves, among many others.
