Giants Stadium Information
Giants Stadium is part of a larger entertainment complex known as The Meadowlands. This stadium is home to the New York Giants, New York Jets, and also a major league soccer club, The Red Bulls. When the New York Giants are playing, the stadium is known as Giants Stadium but when the New York Jets are playing, the stadium is known as The Meadowlands Stadium. During the sports off seasons, Giants Stadium also hosts major name musical concerts and host one of a kind events, such as the Pope's visit or the Statute of Liberty celebration.
Giants Stadium held its first game on October 10, 1976 and was constructed to allow unobstructed sight views for every fan. The stadium holds 76,000 and can be increased to over 80,000 for special events or large football games. In 2000, the stadium switched from artificial astro-turf to natural grass football season, this change shocked many football fans and even made the national news. Giants Stadium will be closed in 2010 and will be demolished to make way for a new Meadowlands Stadium to be built.
