The Great Bill Cosby

Influenced by Groucho Marx and George Carlin, and creating a comedic style that emulated jazz greats Charlie Parker, Louis Armstrong, and Miles Davis, Bill Cosby has become the nations most beloved comedian, author, and television star. He was born in West Philadelphia in 1937. While staying active in sports and extra curricular activities and maintaining a class clown status, he eventually failed the 10th grade and never went back. He joined the Marines and realized how important an education was. He went to college after receiving a track and field scholarship from Temple University. It was there where he realized his talent for performing and making others laugh. After performing in clubs, he was led to a role in the 1960’s television show, I Spy, which he won an Emmy for. The 1960’s brought him an opportunity to star in his own show, The Bill Cosby Show. He became involved in children’s television creating the cartoon, Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids and appearing on shows such as The Electric Company. The 1980’s gave way for The Cosby Show. He has appeared in many movies, hosted numerous television shows, released various comedy albums and written many books. He was also the spokesman for Jell-O pudding. He continues to bring his stand-up comedy act to towns across the United States.
