Growing up Ben Folds was an avid fan of Elton John and Billy Joel. He quickly learned to play their songs by ear along with learning the bass and drums. Ben Folds founded Ben Folds Five, an alternative piano rock/powerpop group that achieved success. Ben Folds Five lasted for four studio albums from 1995-1999. The band reunited in September 2008 for a MySpace charity gig in North Carolina, but there is no word of a full reunion. Now Ben Folds tours solo (and rocks the suburbs). He has released six albums and his latest album entitled, Way To Normal, was released September 29, 2008. Word has it that he is going to record an album with author Nick Hornby over the course of three days in December. Hornby will write the lyrics and Folds the music. Ben Folds has also collaborated with Ben Kweller, Ben Lee, Guster, Weezer, Tori Amos and The Fray.
