Formed in 1984, the Blue Rodeo started to break out into the Canadian music scene under the ticket of a country rock band. Ever since 1987, they have already signed under Warner Music in Canada and their first album ticket into the recording world is entitled “Outskirts."
Originally, the band members were Jim Cuddy, Bazil Donovan, and Greg Keelor. Eventually, newbies were adopted into the band ticket namely Bob Packwood and James Gray who have just recently left his post as the band’s keyboardist. The band began its humble beginnings at Toronto, Canada and was formed by Jimmy Cuddy together with fellow songwriters. Their first few gigs were held at several bars in Queen Street West which was also found within the Toronto district.
If there were a roster of few accomplished country rock bands in Canada, the Blue Rodeo would surely have a ticket to fit in such a roster. To date, they have already proven their market success by being able to release 11 albums recorded in the studio, one recorded live, and the benchmark of success—a greatest hits album. On their own, Keelor and Cuddy have also been able to ticket their own fame to make solo albums for themselves. The success of the band also enabled them to make musical collaborations with other Canadian artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Jann Arden, Crash Vegas, Kathleen Edwards, to name a few.
Apart from successful ticket sales and album marketing, the band also has awards under their name. They are well-known in the world of Canadian music awards and have won 7 awards on each of these prestigious award-giving bodies: SOCAN and Juno.
The band has grown famous for their different approach to rock country music. Their musical ticket owes a lot to each member’s musical diversity. They infused the style of typical rock music with country and folk-rock. Each band member also has a different vocal ticket which contributes to their appeal as a whole. Jim Cuddy serves as the band’s tenor. Greg Keenor provides a unique raspy vocal prowess while Bobby Wiseman provides the band with an eclectic jazz arpeggio voice.
At present, the Blue Rodeo also gained their ticket to become a world-renowned band. They have also been busy touring Europe and performing their craft as well as introducing their musical ticket within the United States. In addition, they have also been featured in a US film entitled “Postcards from the Edge” in 1990.
