Bob Schneider Background Information
The son of an opera singer, musician and artist Bob Schneider, was taught guitar and piano at an early age. Before embarking on a solo career, he had spent several years performing together with various bands. About ten years ago, the artist co-founded The Scabs. With this band, Bob made a further name for himself as the frontman. However, none of the groups gained much recognition in the US, but managed to build solid reputations. Two years later, Bob began his solo career, though still performing under the band name Lonelyland.
more He also titled his first major label album the same way. His musical approach as a solo performer has been as eclectic as the various musical styles of his former groups. He has been a little bit singer and songwriter, combining country, funk, rock, and folk music styles.
Bob Schneider went on to release new albums, Lonelyland (in 2001) and I'm Good Now (in 2004). They attracted significantly more national attention as well as some critical acclaim. The hit "Big Blue Sea" from the 2001 album received some radio play, together with the singles from I'm Good Now.
Schneider remains committed to performing at smaller venues and loves the energy of the stage. Currently, the musician plays regularly in his native Texas, however continuing extensive touring. Although he tours across the whole country, Bob is still known as a true Austin musician. His musical influences have spread into the far borders of musical culture, including soul, funk, punk, folk, rap, lounge, and even some melodic experimentalism.
