Butthole Surfers Tickets

A vulgar name for a vulgar band.

The Butthole Surfers (often regarded as the B.H. Surfers by some companies and radio stations) did not initially have their provoking name. They performed under different names (Dick Clark Five, Vodka Family Watsons, Nine Foot Worm Makes Own Food, and many more) before deciding on the Butthole Surfers after an announcer forgot their name and referred to the song title of the same name to introduce the band. Their live shows were noted for being wild and chaotic. The band members would often get naked, wear cone bras, don sideways Mohawks, start fires, fill condoms with fake blood and fall to the floor appearing to bleed profusely. They had a naked dancer on stage with them and it is rumored that at a concert in 1986 the dancer and lead vocalist and saxophonist Gibby Haynes had intercourse on stage. The Butthole Surfers added more and more smoke machines and strobe lights to their shows- encouraging the intake of hallucinogens. The band would show films at weird angles in the background of disturbing things such as meat processing and penis reconstruction surgery. The disorienting images combined with strobe lights and loud music has been known to start seizures in the audience.
