Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea Background Information

Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, composer, and a multiple Grammy Award winner. Chick Corea is probably best known for his work during the ‘70s using jazz fusion. However, his contribution to straight-ahead is tremendous. He was one of those, who gave birth of the electric fusion movement (he was a member of Miles Davis' band in the ‘60s, and later formed Return to Forever).

Chick Corea New Trio’s Past, Present & Futures includes 11 songs, however, only one of them can be called a standard one (Fats Waller's "Jitterbug Waltz"). The rest of the compositions are Chick Corea originals. The album once again proves an extremely fertile stage in the band’s career. The trio’s compositions are very organic and sound more "worldy" than the classic trio with Vitouš and Haynes.
