Citizen Cope Background Information
Citizen Cope is a pseudonym of Clarence Greenwood, a famous singer, keyboardist, DJ, guitarist, and record producer. It is also the name of the band that Greenwood leads.
In 2000, Clarence signed with the DreamWorks Records label and released his first album in fall 2002, entitled Citizen Cope. He went on tour to promote the new album as an opener for Nelly Furtado. In 2002, Greenwood performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA.
In late 2004, the musician released his second album, titled The Clarence Greenwood Recordings.

In 2005, Greenwood continued touring across the US promoting his 2nd major label record. In spring, his song “Son’s Gonna Rise” began appearing in a Pontiac commercial. It was distributed as the record’s second single.
“Bullet and a Target”, another beautiful song from the album was played in the end credits of the 2006 movie The Sentinel, and later during a scene of the 2007 film Alpha Dog. “Let The Drummer Kick” was featured in the movies Accepted and Coach Carter’ and “Son's Gonna Rise” was featured in the popular TV series, One Tree Hill.
On September 12, 2006, Citizen Cope released the new record, entitled Every Waking Moment. Greenwood is also featured on the track “Bullet” on Rhymefest's record Blue Collar, and is included on the compilation Radiodread with his cover of Radiohead's “Karma Police.”
