Cold War Kids heating things up!

The Cold War Kids got their start in Fullerton, California in an apartment above the Mulberry St. Ristorante. They released their first EP, Mulberry Street, in 2005 through Monarchy Records. The Cold Wars Kids toured non-stop in 2005 and 2006 creating a huge reputation for themselves among the online community (just another example of how crucial MySpace is for a band’s beginning). The band left Monarchy Records and signed to Downtown Records (home to artists such as Gnarls Barkley and Art Brut) in the summer of 2006. Their first LP, Robbers and Cowards was released that fall. The Cold War Kids have joined bands such as Tapes ‘n Tapes, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Muse and The White Stripes on tour as a supporting band (which isn’t band at three years old). Their music contains hints and elements of Bob Dylan, The Velvet Underground, and Jeff Buckley, but only if those artists hit the mainstream running in their hey day. In other words, The Cold War Kids may say they have been influenced by these bands (but who hasn’t?), but they are still a pop rock band from California.
