Dancing with the Stars is the name of a television series based on the original British series Strictly Come Dancing. The US version bears the name of "Dancing with the Stars". The types of ballroom dances, performed by the contestants include: foxtrot, quickstep, tango, waltz; the types of latin dances are cha-cha-cha, jive, mambo, paso doble, rumba, and samba.
Spectators can also vote for their favorite pairs during a certain amount of time, either by phone or by the Internet. The couple with the lowest number of votes from judges and spectators loses the right to take part in the show the next week. After every dance, the judges come up with their comments, and give their scores. The highest score possible is 30/30. As a rule, the scores are totaled, taking into consideration the viewers votes. Unlike other reality shows such as American Idol, Canadians can also vote in the program. This process goes on until there are only two couples left, with later declaring the best couple the shows champion.
