Dave Matthews Band Tickets

The South-African vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews brought toghether the Dave Matthews band in Virginia in the early '1991. The band featured Dave Matthews, Stefan Lessard, Leroi Moor, Boyd Tinsley, and Carter Beauford, the band's music screams the Gratefull Dead, but a much more pop version of it crossed with a world sound combining rock and strings along with brass instruments. Dave Matthews band acquired a huge fan following, mostly by word of mouth, getting little radio airplay untill recently.  Most of their fan base was built through word of mouth and live tours, mostly in college towns. Once they released an album, Remember Two Things on an independant lable, some big record labels took notice of the little rock group from Virginia.  . Eventually that little rock band, The Dave Matthews Band got signed by one of the largest labels, RCA, and released, Under the Table and Dreaming, in the fall of 1994. By the end of the year and halfway into the next the Dave Matthews Band's first hit single sold over a million copies and the Dave Matthews Band had reached international noteriety.

On year after it's hit single sold over 1 million copies, the Dave Matthews Band second album (their first with a major label and marketing) sold over four million copies and started to get plenty of airplay all over the US.  In 1996 the Dave Matthews Band follow up album, Crash, hit the charts at #2 and never looked back...going platinum in less than 1 month. Through touring and marketing by the time 1996 was over Crash had hit double platinum and the Dave Matthews Band proved that they were not a fluke or a one hiot wonder. In 1996 the Dave Matthews Band worked in conjunction with federal authorities to crack down on stores that sold illegal recordings of his live shows.  The campaign was a success as the government was able to arrest several companies that were the source of the illegal discs.  The Dave Matthews Band's popularity stems from their live shows which are know to be emotional and electric, and the Dave Matthews Band thought it was unfair for people to experience the show without buying a ticket.

To further combat the bootleggers, the Dave Matthews Band released an official live album in the fall of 1997 which was an immediate success, proving the success of the bootleggers before the crack down.  The Dave Matthews Band's Live at the Red Rocks sold over a million copies in half a year, which is unprecendented for a live show of already heard material. Live at the Red Rocks paved the way for 1998 release of the Dave Matthews Band 's junior album, Before These Crowded Streets which also eventually went platinum. Following that the Dave Matthews Band released another live show, Listener Supported,  a year later which also sold nearly a million copies.

Dave Matthews Band History 

Originally formed in Charlottesville, VA, Dave Matthews band began with singer, Dave Matthews, Stefan Lessard on bass, Leroi Moore on saxophone, Boyde Tinsley on violin, Carter Beauford on drums and keyboardist Peter Griesar. The band got their start in 1990 and in 1993 Peter Griesar left the band.

Before the band formed, Dave Matthews was a timid and shy man who was afraid to perform in front of people. With a little coercing from a friend, he recorded a demo with a few of the songs that he had written. He shopped the songs around to some local jazz musicians who agreed to play inside and out of the studio. Dave Matthews Band had their first official gig at a private party on a rooftop in Charlottesville on May 11, 1991 and their first official public show was at the Charlottesville Earth Day Festival in 1991. Their performance proved memorable and very soon after, the band began playing local weekly gigs.

Dave Matthews Band released its first album on November 9, 1993, Under the Table and Dreaming. Hit songs from this album were What Would You Say and Ants Marching. This album as well as the album Crash brought them national attention. They received a Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for So Much To Say and four other nominations within the years of 1996 and 1997.

Other hit songs include, Crash Into Me, Satellite and What Would You Say among many songs loved by loyal fans. Dave Matthews band has proven that with talent, hard work and energy, you can become successful in a rather short amount of time.
