American musician and a member of jazz band Steely Dan Donald Fagen was born on January 10, 1984 in Passiac, New Jersy. Since childhood he was attending classical piano courses. Later, during his studies at Bard College he got acquainted with Walter Becker who had similar tastes in music and played the guitar. They soon became friends and the idea of organizing their own project was born.
1971 can be considered the start of Fagens career when he organized Steely Dan with Becker in 1971. They were the core of the band and wrote most of the music and lyrics.

After the appearance of their third LP in 1974 all the members except Fagen and Becker left the group and Steely Dan became a studio project of two. In 1981 the group broke up but Fagen and Becker never lost their friendship. Fagens first solo album was released in 1982 under the name The Nightfly. It received a favorable acclaim of critics. He also wrote an original soundtrack for a popular animated film Heavy Metal. His second soundtrack Centurys End appeared in 1988 in the film Bright Lights, Big city.
During 1980s wrote music for various films and other artists and made a tour with the New York Rock and Soul Revue. In 1993 he reunited with Becker who was a producer of his second solo album Kamakiriad. Some time later they created a new version of Steely Dan and Becker released his debut solo album 11 Tracks of Whack produced by Fagen.
Fagen and Becker revived Steely Dan and impressed their fans with two new albums. Two Against the Nature, the Grammy Award winning album released in 2000 and Alive in America which was followed by a live CD and DVD. The popularity of Steely Dan jumped up quickly with thousands of fans actively buying the tickets for each of their concerts.
Morph the Cat, Donalds third solo album appeared in 2006 featuring Walt Weiskopf (sax), Jon Herington(guitar), Keith Carlock (drums), Freddy Washington (bass), Ted Baker (piano) and Wayne Krantz (guitar). Donald has started his first solo tour in the support of the album. Most of the places he is going to visit are situated in the northeast of Canada. Shows are also planned to be performed in Chicago and Detroit.
