Now in its 19th year running, the Essence Festival is showing no signs whatsoever of slowing down, as some of the world’s finest R&B talents are slated to take over New Orleans, Louisiana, this Independence Day weekend. Scheduled to take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome from July 4th through July 7th, the 2013 Essence Festival has announced a marvelous lineup that features megastars like Beyonce, who will headline one of the festival's three nights as a part of her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. Thankfully for fans, she's not the only A-lister, as other R&B juggernauts like Jill Scott, Maxwell, New Edition, Charlie Wilson, Keyshia Cole, LL Cool J, and Brandy will also perform on the main stage. Tickets for the festival are on sale now.
Formerly known as the Essence Music Festival, this marvelous event has taken place at the Superdome every year but 2006, and this year the name was shortened in order to reflect its wide range of offerings. Fans will get to enjoy three days of seminars at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, which will feature speakers like Reverend Al Sharpton. There will also be a gospel tribute to pastor Donnie McClurkin and Tramaine Hawkins. Some of the other notable acts set to take the stage are Bridget Kelly, Big Daddy Kane, Blackstreet, Jody Watley, Leela James, Les Nubians, Mint Condition, Anthony Davis, F. Stokes, and local acts Mia Borders and Kourtney Heart. This is one fest you can’t afford to miss, so purchase your 2013 Essence Festival tickets as soon as possible to see Beyonce and other phenomenal acts live on stage.
