American Blues, R&B, and Gospel singer Etta James had her biggest success during the’50s and the ‘60s. James is well known for her 1961 ballad At Last. It was classified as a "timeless classic" composition and has been featured in several movies and TV commercials.
Her singing career began in 1950, when James teamed up with two girls and organized a singing group. In 1954, the girl and the band went to LA to record their first song. The composition was recorded under the label Modern Records. The song was called "The Wallflower (Dance with Me, Henry)". Etta James decided to name her vocal band The Peaches.
Etta James continued to release albums through the ’60s and ‘70s (including one of her best albums Deep In the Night by Atlantic Records).

She was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001. Her contribution to the genre was recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame as well. In 2003, the singer received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Etta James is still touring. Her new album was released in 2006 that is called All the Way.
