Gerald Wilson Orchestra: A Brief History
Gerald Stanley Wilson was born on September 4, in the year 1918, in Shelby, at Mississippi. He is a huge bandleader, trumpeter, educator and arranger or composer. Ever since the premature years of 1940s, Wilson has been based at Los Angeles. In Detroit, he graduated from the Cass Technical High School. In the year 1939, he united with the Jimmie Lunceford rock band, replacing its celebrity manager and trumpeter Sy Oliver. Along with Lunceford, he added a huge numbers to the group name resulting in a big success.
