Gipsy Kings refer to a band from Montpellier and Arles located in France. The parents of the band took off from Spain at the time of Civil War in the country. They are a group of Roma musical groups, famous for getting Rumba Catalana which is a pop-oriented type of customary flamenco music. Their music has influence of a lot of songs of Gipsy social dances like Rumba and Salsa.
They became famous with the self-titled 1st album called Gipsy Kings, including the songs Bamboleo, Diobi Diobi plus the romantic song Un Amor. The famous Gipsy Kings were extremely admired in France as well as all through the Europe and Middle East. In 1989, the first album was finally released in US and made it to the charts for about forty weeks.
In 1993, they won the Latin Grammy Award for their album Love and Liberte and became the ?Best Pop Album of the year. The 95 collection The Best of the Gipsy Kings stayed on charts for more than a year. The albums, Allergia, Gipsy Kings Live, Mosaique, Este Mundo, Tierra Gitana, Volare!-the very best of the Gipsy Kings, and Cantos de Amor were certified gold. The Gipsy Kings are Nicolas Reyes, Paul Reyes, Patchai Reyes, Canut Reyes, Andre Reyes, Diego Baliardo, Paco Baliardo, Tonino Baliardo. Chico Bouchikhi too was one of the members of Gipsy Kings, he however left after Mosaique was released.
