Being son of country music pioneer Hank Williams, Hank Williams, Jr. followed the traditions of his father and has become an outstanding country and southern rock artist.
During the ‘90s, Hank Williams Jr. could not boast of high album sales. However, he continued to be a popular country performer. The singer continued to record, and some recordings still managed to achieve gold status, selling over half a million copies.
Nowadays, Hank Williams Jr is probably best known as the performer of the theme song for Monday Night Football.
It is based on "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight". The theme has become classic. The opening themes that followed in 1991-1994 earned him four Emmy awards.
In April 2006, CMT honored the country music icon with the Johnny Cash Visionary Award. It was presented to him at the 2006 CMT Music Awards. Thus, Hank joined an elite circle of gifted singers, who have received this prestigious award, like Johnny Cash (2003), Reba McEntire (2004), and Loretta Lynn (2005).
