Intocable The Tejano Music Superstars

One of the Texas’ pride in Tejano/Norteño music is the band named Intocable, which simply means “untouchable”. This group first initiated in the 90’s by friends René Martínez and Ricky Muñoz. Soon after a couple of years, the have become one of the greatest Tejano artists. Their music is a mixture of Norteño folk rythms, Tejano’s robust cojunto combined with pop ballad style. This style has earned them recognition as other Tex-Mex music groups pattern their style with Intocable’s diverse music. They soon gained the recognition as the highly influential band in Tejano. Intocable’s vocal strength with strong musical instrumentation and amazing talent in romantic melody has inspired other Tejano groups as well as the mainstream audience.

Before Intocable even made it through the music industry, their ticket and records hardly sold. They have experienced tough couple of years. Soon after they have released their record Fuego Eterno in 1994, the wheels have turned for this group. When the group started to soar higher, a tragic accident happened. Road manager José Ángel González and two other bandmates Jose Ángel Farias and Silvestre Rodríguez died on a car accident when they were on their way to Monterey, Mexico. The other two members and band member Muñoz, survived the accident but had to be hospitalized for weeks. After six months, they made a comeback with concert ticket sold on different band tours.

This group has proven their popularity with their concert ticket sold out in Auditorio Nacional in Mexico. In 2003, they captured media attention in Houston and sold out tickets in Monterey Arena in Mexico. This accomplishment is one of a kind since most Norteño groups scarcely play on stadiums and huge concert halls. Intocable reaped several Univision's Premio Lo Nuestro awards and won Grammy Award for Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album last February 2005. This was their first Grammy they ever received.
