Who Is Jill Scott – is the name of her first album, which later became 2xPlatinum. Jill Scott is almost everything: a two times Grammy award winner, American R&B, soul and jazz singer, songwriter, poet and actress. Jill was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 4, 1972.
Scott grew up as the only child. Therefore she carried her spine straight, with confidence and high spirit. The only man beside Jill was her mother, Joyce Scott, placing first eyes on the daughter. After graduating Philadelphia High School for Girls she attended Temple University simultaneously working two jobs.
Before her shocking breakthrough in the show business, Scott tried herself at a variety of jobs, including retail positions and stints at a construction site and even an ice cream parlor. Scott began to perform her works at live poetry readings as a spoken word artist until she was eventually discovered by Amir Thompson (The Roots), he asked Jill to join the band in the studio. In spite of all hardships in one of the interviews with Jet Magazine she indicated her childhood as a very happy one, mentioning that she was very much a loved child.
She still tries to remain close to her mother and grandma, nicknamed "Blue Babe". All of them live in New Jersey; her divorcing process has been lasted for five years and the case is still unclear.
What we do know of Jill Scott is that she has transformed into a leading figure in R&B and she’s ready to amuse her fans with the Real Thing Words and Sounds Volume III. She brings bitterness and anxiety in her words sounding better than ever. This girl knows how to make emotional music. Jill Scott continues to make history with new warm hits like All I and Wanna Be Loved ending this honestly erotic and animatedly sweet album perfectly.
