KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas Tickets

KROQ Acoustic Christmas (or Acoustic X-Mas for short) is an tour held evry year in LA, California. It all started sixteen years ago when the station KROQ made a great concert uniting many popular music stars. It always had a great success and from year to year it is becoming more and more difficult to get the tickets.

What is KROQ today Its a famous American station which was born in California, Pasadena, but then moved to Burbank, also in California and at present is situated in LA. From 2004 the station broadcasts in High Definition Radio so that the quality became really better.

The station owes its success to the right politisc of the management as during the first year the station was broadcasting only the songs which were really rare and which no other station broadcast. They were ready to risk but the risks were defensible. Only several months later they had a lot of fans, the majority of which were punk teenagers.

The tour is always held just before Christmas, in Decemder and you can watch it on television two or three weeks later after it was held. Seven years ago it was decided to record a special compilation which would include all the songs from the concerts held. They were recorded live. In 1999, they the idea came true and the compilation was released. (The Best of KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas).

The track includes twelve single by such world-famous artists like Blink-182, Garbage, No Doubt, Radiohead and others.

Every year the artists become more exquisite which makes it harder from year to year to get the tickets to the show. The first guests were The Havilinas, The PosiesChris Isaak, Soho, Social Distortion, and The Trash Can Sinatras (1990), the second year School of Fish, The Smithereens, This Picture and The Wonder Stuff. From 1993 the stars became more numerous and more starry like The Smashing Pumpkins, They Might Be Giants, The Lemonheads, Porno for Pyros, The Cranberries, 4 Non Blondes, Belly, Tony Bennett.

The fans who were lucky to buy tickets in December 1996 witnessed Lenny Kravitz, Foo Fighters, Alanis Morissette, No Doubt, Radiohead, Garbage and the inimitable Presidents of the United States of America.

The twelfth annual tour saw Coldplay, No Doubt, Nickelback, Sum 41, Bad Religion, Bush, Blink-182 and wonderful Coldplay. In three years on the eleventh of December, 2004 the fifteenth annual concert was held. Here came such famous stars as Keane, Papa Roach, Incubus, Gwen Stefani, Franz Ferdinand, Muse, Green Day, The Music, Velvet Revolver, Sum 41, Snow Patrol, Good Charlotte and several others. It was obvious that no one ever regret even a penny spent for the tickets.
