Margaret LeAnn Rimes was born on August 28, 1982 in Jackson, Mississippi. She is a very popular country music singer. LeAnn started her music career with the single entitled "Blue", when she was only thirteen years old. By the age of twenty-four Rimes had sold more that thirty-seven million albums worldwide. The singer has won an American Music Award, 3 Academy of Country Music Awards, 2 Grammy Awards, and 12 Billboard Music Awards. LeAnn has set 3 records in the music industry. She is the current youngest person to win a Grammy Award and her version of the song "How Do I Live" is presently the longest charting song on the Hot 100 at 69 weeks. In fact, that was the 1st multi-platinum country single that has sold more than three million copies. The girl was guided by her guitar-playing father. LeAnn started singing and tap dancing, when she was only 2 years old. At age six, LeAnn’s family moved to Texas. There, she would later perform the song "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Dallas Cowboys games. When she was 11, she recorded All That at Norman Petty’s studio in New Mexico.
In 1993, disc jockey Bill Mack from Dallas met LeAnn and promoted her for a re-release of "Blue". He wrote this hit in the ‘60s. Rimes’s album Blue sold over eight million copies.
LeAnn recorded "How Do I Live" for the 1997 movie Con Air. Her version was rejected by producers in favor of rendition by Trisha Yearwood's. However, it became the first certified multi-platinum country single. Moreover, the song holds the record for most weeks spent on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100. Rimes’s 3rd full-length studio project, entitled You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs debuted at no. one on the Top Country Albums, Billboard 200, and Christan Albums charts. It was followed by a couple of soundtracks singles, including the world-famous "Can't Fight the Moonlight" for the movie Coyote Ugly, and other recordings for the films View from the Top, Driven, and Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.
At the end of January 2005, LeAnn released This Woman. She sold over 600,000 records; it was her best-selling release in over 5 years, with "Nothin' 'Bout Love Makes Sense", "Something's Gotta Give", "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way". All of them achieved the Top Five on the U.S. charts. "Something's Gotta Give" earned the singer her third Grammy Award nomination for Female Country Vocal Performance.
In June 2006, LeAnn released her new pop album in Europe entitled Whatever We Wanna. The release is led by the single "And It Feels Like". The singer co-wrote ten out of the fifteen songs on the album. Rimes will release her new Country album to the U.S. on August 28th, 2007 titled Family.
