Los Tigres del Norte: A Brief History
The Los Tigres del Norte are a popular norteno band that hails from Rosa Morada of Sinaloa in Mexico. The band was initially started by Jorge Hernández with his brother and a cousin. The band started recording after moving to San Jose in California around the 1960's. At this time almost all members of the band were in their teens. The band was sponsored by a record company back then. The company was owned by an Englishman, Art Walker. He owned a local record company called the Discos Fama. Art helped the band at that point of time by taking them and offering his guidance and providing them assistance. He helped them with the recordings and also helped in finding jobs and did other things for them.
The members of the Los Tigres del Norte included Jorge Hernández who was the lead vocalist and in charge of accordion. There was Hernán Hernández who was in charge of the supprting vocals and the electric bass. Eduardo Hernández played the saxophone, bajo sexton, and accordion and was also used for vocals. Luis Hernández did vocals and played the bajo and the sexton. Oscar Lara played the drums. Two former members of the band were Raúl Hernández and Guadalupe Olivo.
The past works and albums of the band are Uniendo Fronteras, released in 2001, La Reina Del Sur in 2002, Pacto De Sangre in 2004, Directo al Corazón in 2005, Historias que Contar in 2006 and Detalles y Emociones in 2007.
