Madeleine Peyroux is an American jazz singer, songwriter, and guitarist. The musician is noted for her exquisite vocal style.
In 2004, Madeleine Peyroux released her own sophomore effort, which she called Careless Love. The release generally received positive critics’ reviews. Her new album entitled Half the Perfect World was released in September 2006. Peyroux collaborated with several musicians, including Jesse Harris, Walter Becker, Larry Klein, and k.d. lang. With the latter, Madeleine Peyroux duets on a cover of the Joni Mitchell’s song "River".
Peyroux tries to avoid publicity and keep a low profile. She drops “out of sight” for extended periods, as when she spent several years busking after she had released her first album. In summer 2005, when she was on tour in Europe, Madeleine failed to show up for an interview on British television. Her record company was concerned that the musician had disappeared. So they alerted the media and even hired a private detective. However, to everyone’s embarrassment, she was soon found with her manager in New York City.
Madeleine's well recognized song entitled Don't Wait Too Long was featured in a National Television Advertising Campaign for Dockers San Francisco brand apparel. In all, the musician has released four albums, including Dreamland (1996), Got you on my mind (2004), Careless Love (2004), and Half the Perfect World (2006).
