About Maroon 5The members (Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick) of Maroon 5 met in a Los Angeles junior high. While attending high school, they formed Kara’s Flowers, a garage band that had their first show in 1995 at the Whisky a Go Go. When James Valentine joined the band in 2001, they changed their name to Maroon 5. Their new name got the band some much needed attention from record labels, however, many labels were concerned with the band’s overuse of sex in their lyrics. In 2001 the independent label Octone Records signed the band. That same year they released Songs About Jane, which reached the Top 20 (peaking at #6) on the Billboard 200 by 2004. The album singles “Harder to Breathe”, “This Love”, “She Will Be Loved” and “Sunday Morning” topped music charts in the U.S., Australia and the UK. The band was constantly on tour with other bands such as: Michelle Branch, Nikka Costa, Vanessa Carlton, John Mayer and The Rolling Stones to name a few. Their second album, It Wont Be Soon Before Long, was released in 2007. The first single “Makes Me Wonder” broke iTunes sales records selling over 101,000 in the first week. The band is currently on tour with The Counting Crows. |
