Nickel Creek Background Information
Grammy Award-winning acoustic music trio Nickel Creek has its roots in bluegrass or "progressive bluegrass" as it is now sometimes described. The three permanent band members include Sean Watkins (on guitar), Sara Watkins (on violin), and Chris Thile (on mandolin). The position of guest member is currently filled by Mark Schatz (on string bass).
Over the band's 3 official releases, their musical style seems to have shifted from contemporary bluegrass to the indie rock elements, covering various compositions by Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Pavement, Elliott Smith, and even the smash Toxic by Britney Spears.
