About Ozzfest
The travelling metal-fest, Ozzfest, was created by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne in 1996 when
Lollapalooza wouldnt let Ozzy join the tour. Due to the festivals overwhelming popularity, the
Osbournes decided to make the festival an annual event, and added UK dates in 1998, and extended
the tour through Central Europe in 2002.
The Osbournes hosted a popular MTV show called Battle for Ozzfest in 2004, allowing bands to
compete for a slot on the next years tour. Texas-based metalcore band A Dozen Furies won the
competition.

During 2005s Ozzfest, Sharon was angered by several onstage comments that Iron Maiden frontman
Bruce Dickinson made about her family. During Maidens final show, Osbourne had road crews and her
daughter Kelly throw eggs at the band and cut off Maidens PA at critical moments during their set.
She also went onstage herself to confront Dickinson. Maiden handed down their slot to Velvet
Revolver for the remaining four dates of the tour.
A 10th anniversary live DVD, featuring live performances and interviews with band members on the
tour, hit stores in November 2005. After that tour, Ozzy said that, although Ozzfest will continue,
the 2006 shows will be the last Ozzfest in which he will perform regularly.
The 2006 dates include sets by Ozzy, System of a Down, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Hatebreed,
Cacuna Coil and others.
