After several anticipatory weeks, the full Pitchfork Music Festival lineup has been announced. From July 19-21, over 40 artists will head to one of Chicago’s most popular outdoor fests for three days of live music. Several major names have officially joined the bill, creating an eclectic mix of performance styles. MIA, Solange Knowles, Joanna Newsom, The Breeders, and Yo La Tengo round out the list of internationally recognized artists. Other musicians featured on the lineup range in genre from metal to electronica to dreamy pop, including Toro Y Moi, El-P, and Low. These artists join ranks with the previously announced three main headliners: the eccentric Bjork, R&B legend R. Kelly, and Scottish indie-pop group Belle and Sebastian. Along with stellar performances each year, the festival grounds also host local craft vendors, the Flatstock poster show, and the CHIRP Record Fair, where festival goers can browse through thousands of vintage and newly released vinyl albums.
Over the years, the Pitchfork Music Festival has become known for hosting a variety of smaller artists, many of whom have a history of breaking through to mainstream success after performing at this event. In 2012, the relatively unknown Kendrick Lamar played a set at Pitchfork, and in the ensuing year, the now-prolific rapper was named MTV’s Hottest MC in the Game and secured one of the main spots at Lollapalooza 2013. Be one of the first to hear music’s rising stars by purchasing Pitchfork tickets from Vivid Seats. You can select a single-day pass if you only have your sights set on a few artists, or splurge on a three-day pass for a full weekend of exciting live performances.
