Trisha Yearwood Can Sing AND Cook

Trisha Yearwood got her start working as a receptionist for MTM Records where she occasionally sang backup vocals for upcoming artists. She met Garth Brooks there and sung backup for him on his 1990 album No Fences. Brooks and Yearwood became friends and made a pact that whoever made it big first would help the other out. Yearwood signed to MCA Nashville Records and when Brooks made it big he had Yearwood open for him on tour. In 1991 Yearwood released her album and her single “She’s In Love With the Boy” made her an instant country success. She was the first female country singer to sell over a million copies of her first album. Since then she has released ten studio albums, five compilation albums, and had over 38 singles hit country charts with seven hitting the number one position. In 2005 longtime friend Garth Brooks proposed to Yearwood on stage and the two have been married since. Yearwood’s last album was released in 2007 and most recently she has been promoting her cookbook, Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen (Recipes From My Family to Yours).
