Even though alternative gurus Weezer were cleverly named after lead singer Rivers Cuomo’s asthma problems as a kid, it hasn’t slowed down their success one bit. The California rockers started off their career with a bang in 1994 with a self-titled debut record often referred to as “The Blue Album.” It continues to be their most successful release to date, selling over three million copies and becoming certified triple platinum. During the 2013 Weezer tour, the band will be on the road again, and you can see the boys perform their hits live thanks to Vivid Seats. Weezer Tour Set to Span North America in Summer 2013
Thick-rimmed glasses may slightly obscure lead singer River Cuomo’s face, but alternative rock band Weezer will be baring it all in the months to come during a 2013 summer tour of North America. It is the first time the band has made any major tour plans since 2011. Comprised of Cuomo on vocals and guitar, Patrick Wilson on drums and guitar, Brian Bell on guitar and keyboards and Scott Shriner on bass and keyboards, Weezer plans to hit the road beginning July 8 at the Hampton Beach Casino in Hampton, N.H.
From there, the Weezer tour also will include a slew of stops in Canada at the Ottawa Bluesfest in Ottawa, Ontario (July 10), Downsview Park in Toronto, Canada (July 12), and Rock the Shores in Victoria, B.C. (July 14), before the alternative rockers return to the U.S. to play venues such as America’s Cup Pavilion in San Francisco, Calif. (July 25), the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, Calif. (July 26), and the Cosmopolitan Pool in Las Vegas, Nev. (July 27). In addition to the aforementioned Weezer tour dates, the group also can be seen at the Lucky Star Casino in Concho, Okla., on Sept. 13 and at the WinStar Casino in Thackerville, Okla., the following night. Be sure to browse through Vivid Seats’ marketplace to find Weezer tickets for the chance to see timeless hits like “Say It Ain’t So,” “Buddy Holly,” “Beverly Hills,” and “Island in the Sun” performed live.
The quartet hasn’t had a studio release since 2010, but that doesn’t mean the rumors aren’t swirling about a 10th album in the works. Also still to come from the band is “The Weezer Cruise” in 2014. The boat trip takes off from Jacksonville, Fla., on Feb. 13, and after sailing around the Bahamas, the cruise will return on Feb. 17. If you’re dying to find out more information on the group, the quartet also has a simulation Wikipedia site for fans titled “Weezerpedia.”
