2008 Auto Club 500 Information
The Auto Club 500 is a NASCAR sprint cup series event that is held on the 25th of February at the Auto Club Speedway, Fontana, California. This race is for all of the 500 miles and consists of about 250 laps. Besides having to contend with other drivers trying their best to take the lead, each and every driver must literally have nerves of steel to compete efficiently in this race. The other monikers of this race are the NAPA auto parts 500 and the California 500 as presented by NAPA.
The Auto Club Speedway has a length of about 2 miles and with a D shaped oval and sharp turns at 14 degrees, one can see why many a driver would have some problems navigating the turns at the bottom half. more
This race first began in 1997 and ever since then, there have been a few fatalities on this track as a result of which certain modifications have taken place here. The end result is a track that is so easy to drive fast in but one that certainly starts telling on the driver after a matter of a few laps. This track also has an infield road course which has been used for the other races as well. The track has a front stretch of about 3100 feet and a back stretch of about 2500 feet, wrapping the front end at 11 degrees and the back end at 3 degrees. This is one track that has always delivered what the people had always wanted and that being ‘more excitement’.
