2008 Pennsylvania 500 InformationThe Pennsylvania 500 race is the last race of the year at the Pocono Raceway located in Pennsylvania. The first race of the season was the Pocono 500. It is being held on August 3rd, 2008 this year. Each of these races is much different than the other races in the NASCAR circuit as they have no title sponsors to deal with. This means they are strictly run by the owners of the racetrack. They are free to make their own decisions without the pressure of a sponsor. The fans of the Pocono Raceway requested this decision be made in the year before 2007. In 2007, the race date was shifted from the traditional July date to August. This was to be able to change dates with the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, the race before the Pennsylvania 500 race. The Pocono Raceway is known for its straight lines and tight curves. This two and a half mile lap will be comparable to a regular road course for even the most experienced of drivers.
