2008 Sharpie 500 Race Information
The Sharpie 500 is going to be held at the Bristol Motor Speedway on August 17th, 2008. The speedway is located in Bristol, Tennessee. The Speedway is also the home of the Food City 500 but the Sharpie 500 is more popular because of the name of the sponsor. Beginning in 1978, the race is held in the later part of August on a Saturday evening and is the most difficult to find tickets for. The wait for tickets to this race can be very long but very worth the time spent waiting. It can also be viewed on ESPN but there is nothing like the thrill of being there in person. more
The Sharpie 500 is held on one of the only concrete tracks used by NASCAR. It compares to the Dover Speedway but is shorter in length. The turns bank at about 24-30 degrees but some think it may be as much as 36 degrees before the resurfacing of the track was completed in 2007. Because the length of the track is short, the speed is not as high as some of the other tracks in the circuit. It is definitely best to qualify for the Sharpie 500 in a high spot because low spots will get you placed almost a lap behind the other cars because of the track size. To make sure you get your tickets early.
