2008 Sylvania 300 Race Information

The New Hampshire Motor Speedway will hold the Sylvania 300 for this years NASCAR Season. The Speedway is located in Loudon, New Hampshire. The Sylvania 300 was held in the middle of September every year but one since it was created. It also was the first race that was not affiliated with the Talladega and Daytona to have restrictor plates on the cars during the each race.

NASCAR had enough of the problems with fatalities and sever injuries caused by crashes and instituted the restrictor plate rule for all NASCAR events. The addition of these plates caused the Sylvania 300 speeds to drop a fair amount but worked so well in not allowing one car to pass another that Jeff Burton was able to hold his lead in all of the 300 laps of this race. 2004 brought the tradition of the Sylvania 300 as being the first race in the ten race playoff. This is also the time when fans are competing for the right to watch football and NASCAR at the same time of year not to mention a few other major sporting events. Sylvania decided to renew its contract in 2006 and stay as the title sponsor for the Sylvania 300 until 2012.
