Pistons on track for another stellar year

During the 2006 off-season, the Detroit Pistons offered the player Ben Wallace a $48 million contract, which would have made him the highest-paid Detroit Piston player ever. He was expected to accept it, but in the end, he agreed to a 4-year $60 million contract offered by the Chicago Bulls. Instead of Wallace, the Pistons signed Nazr Mohammed.

The end of 2006 was not very lucky for the team, as the Detroit Pistons lost three consecutive games for the first time in the current season. During the last game of December 31, 2006, the team was defeated by the Phoenix Suns with the score 101-108. To the fans’ regret, Chauncey Billups sat out because of his strained right calf. However, Flip Murray, who started in place of Chauncey, ended with season’s highs in points and assists (18 and 7, accordingly).

Many important games of the current are still ahead. The Detroit Pistons will have to resist the professional play of such eminent rivals as the Charlotte Bobcats, the Boston Celtics, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and many more.
