Angels take part in fight against breast cancer

Eight players from the  Angels team took part in the fight against breast cancer by picking up pink bats for the game on Mother’s Day. The eight players were Vladimir Guerrero, Erick Aybar, Casey Kotchman, Robb Quinlan, Jeff Mathis, Juan Rivera, Napolis and Reggie Willits. The halos made nine hits and five runs using the colored bats. The pink bat tradition of Major League Baseball is symbol of fighting against breast cancer and the proceeds from the game will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Though the Angels were defeated by Tampa Bay for 8-5, the players were happy to be the part of a good initiative.

The players were seen with small pink ribbons on their uniforms and the back ground at the Tropicana Field was also colored pink. However, the center fielder Torii Hunter is disappointed by the fact that he was not given a pink bat to play on Sunday. He was seen wearing pink neck laces and pink wrist bands. The first run of Angels in 20 innings came from the pink bat of Vladimir Guerrero. In the fifth inning, two runs were produced with the efforts of Aybar and Guerreo from the pink bat.
