Lakers defeat Mavericks in a nail-biter.

Being one of the most popular teams, the Los Angeles Lakers finished the previous season with .549%, which is quite a high result (45 wins versus only 37 losses). Coached by Phil Jackson, the team has made much progress recently, and now they are the second in their Division after the Phoenix Suns with 16-4 at home and 7-7 on the road, which makes the stunning .667%. Phil Jackson was first hired from 1999 to 2004, and then again in 2005. Under his tenure, the Los Angeles Lakers became the 2000-2002 NBA champions and the 2004 Western Conference Champions. His personal record is 332-160 in regular season, and 64-28 in playoffs. Kobe Bryant's 81-point performance at the beginning of 2006 became the second highest point total in league history.

On January 7, 2007, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Dallas Mavericks in a tense game (101-98). Despite his limited playing time, Sasha Vujacic hit a confident jumper with only twenty-eight seconds remaining. In fact, it lifted the Lakers over Dallas on Sunday night. It turned out to be his best game in three NBA seasons. The player scored a career-high 16 points, including the crucial 3-pointer. After the game, the young Vujacic confessed that the beginning of the season was not at all lucky for him, but after that game, he was in high spirits again and wanted to prove that the coach could trust him. Three days before, on January 4, 2007, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings after the overtime (132-128).
