The Duke Blue Devils have returned victorious from the ACC Championships seven times, six within the first ten years of the championship, the fourth most behind Maryland, Florida State and Clemson. We expect something special from Duke this year with its new head coach, David Cutcliffe. He is seemingly pleased with what he has seen thus far in the opening of the 2008 training season. Cutcliffe was not originally happy with what he saw in the Blue Devils that he picked up in December of 2007, so started an off season program to condition the players. Collectively the 77 players lost 302.6 lbs, and are looking leaner and meaner.
Cutcliffe has said that he thinks they are doing better in both offense and defense. He does not intend to discard additional training and conditioning, he wants to trim down, speed up his receivers, and focus on their kicking game to have that tweaked and ready for the upcoming 2008 and 2009 seasons. He believes that the passing and catching is up for some improvement as well.
