2008 Michigan State Spartans Season InformationThe Michigan State Spartans belong to the Big Ten Conference. In the last few years, the Spartans have not shown as much as improvement as some would like. The 1999 season has proved to be the Spartans best season. With a 10-2 record, the Michigan State Spartans ranked 3rd out of 114 teams. Michigan State ended with a 5-6 record in 2000 and a 7-5 record in 2001. In 2002, the Spartans faced their worst season. Finishing with a 4-8 season, the team ranked 70th out of 117 teams. Fortunately 2003 proved to be a successful season for the Spartans. The Spartans ended with an 8-5 record, making this their second best season. In 2004 and 2005, the team only won five games. In 2006, the Spartans did not improve, instead they returned to the record they finished with in 2002. In 2007 Michigan State improved, ending with a 7-6 season record and a rank of 45th out of 122 teams. Michigan State Spartans head Coach Mark Dantonio has signed 21 new players for the 2008 season.
