In 1999, the New Mexico State Aggies, part of the Big West Conference had a record of 6-5, and a rank of 67th out of 114 teams, this being their highest rank since. In 2000, the team made no improvement, only winning three games and losing eight of them. In 2001, the New Mexico State Aggies joined the Sun Belt Conference. Their first year in the new conference proved to be a slight success. The Aggies finished their 2001 season with a record of 5-7; however they only placed 98th out of 117. From 2001 to 2004, the New Mexico State Aggies were part of the Sun Belt Conference. 2002 proved to be their best season in the Sun Belt, finishing with a season of 7-5.
In the 2005, the Aggies joined the WAC Conference and have stayed in the conference since. However, 2005 proved to be the Aggies worst season ever. Finishing with a 0-12 record, the Aggies placed last out of 119 teams. Since 2005, the Aggies have not proved greatly. In both 2006 and 2007, the team only won 4 games. Head coach Hal Humme hopes that this year the signing of 18 new players and practices will make the 2008 season more successful than past seasons have been. Want your Aggies to win?
